Police have confirmed the sad news, that a cyclist has died following a collision on the A4 yesterday evening, 21/4.
Emergency services were called at about 7.55pm following a collision involving a Peugeot Boxer Ban and a cyclist on the A4 between Avebury and Calne.
Sadly, despite the best efforts of the emergency services, the cyclist, a man in his 30s, was declared dead at the scene.
A police spokesperson said: "His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers. Our thoughts are with them at this sad time."
The driver of the vehicle, a man in his 60s, has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving.
He has been released under investigation while enquiries continue.
The road remains closed between Cherhill and the Beckhampton roundabout while a full investigation is carried out.
