A special football match will take place at Twerton Park, Bath, on Sunday 9th November in memory of Marvin Brown, the former Bristol City star who has sadly passed away last week. All proceeds from the event will go directly to support his wife, Alexis, and their two daughters.

Marvin, 42, who lived in Calne, holds the record as Bristol City’s youngest-ever player, making his debut at 16 in 1999. He also played for Cheltenham Town, Yeovil, Weston-super-Mare, and Chippenham, and later coached, including a spell as joint manager at Corsham Town.

The match will see a Marvin Brown XI take on a Bristol City XI, with former professional players including Jermaine Pennant, Jermaine Jenas, Leroy Lita, Nicky Maynard, and Clayton Fortune taking part. Kick-off is at 2pm.

The day will include music, a raffle, an auction, food and drink, and activities for children, offering a chance for families and football fans to come together in celebration of Marvin’s life.

Tickets:

  • Adult: £10

  • Child (under 12): £5

  • Family (2 adults + 2 children): £25

  • Donation ticket (for those unable to attend): £10

Organisers thanked Twerton Park for hosting the event, noting that 100% of gate money and a percentage of bar sales will go directly to Marvin’s family.

Marvin faced serious health challenges throughout his life, including ulcerative colitis, colon cancer, and a rare liver disease. In August, he was diagnosed with cholangiocarcinoma, an aggressive bile duct cancer.

Organiser Georgie Bowden said: “At the end of your life, it’s the legacy you leave behind that matters, and it is clear from the outpouring of support that Marvin touched countless lives. This match is a chance for people from across the region to celebrate that legacy and support his family.”

Even those unable to attend can contribute by purchasing a donation ticket or sharing the event to help raise funds.
