SEPTEMBER is 'Catch The Bus Month' and now, catching the bus to and from Calne has never been easier.

The Stagecoach number 55 bus route which runs between Chippenham, Calne, Royal Wootton Bassett and Swindon now has an improved evening frequency - Stagecoach said: "Stagecoach West has been working closely with Swindon Borough Council and Wiltshire Council to coordinate enhancements to our evening and weekend bus network in and around Swindon.

"Many of these improvements benefit from specific funding made available from the UK Government to support exactly these kind of service upgrades."

Additionally, new bus services operated by Swindon Bus Company - 40A and 40C make it possible to get around Calne with a Calne Town Circular route.

In July, Swindon's Bus Company took over the running of the Calne Town 40 service and altered it to become two routes operating around the town - 40A (anticlockwise) and 40C (clockwise), keeping all the current links to the town centre, but also now linking in the new estate to the east of the town through Prince Charles Drive and Spitfire Road, before continuing to the Tesco Superstore on Oxford Road.

On Saturday 14th September residents were encouraged to ditch the car and hop on the 40a & 40c town buses for free all day long.

This autumn you can take advantage of the new services to discover the Calne Music & Arts Festival in October, join in the fun with Circus Piddly at the Recreation Ground later this month or visit The REME Museum at Lyneham.

To celebrate #CatchTheBusMonth, Calne Town Mayor Jon Fisher was joined by Sarah Gibson MP, Mayor of Royal Wootton Bassett Pat Farrow for a photo shoot.
