The Chair of the Calne Branch of the Royal British Legion has presented the Rory Penman Shield to The Calne Recreation Club after the venue once again topped the small-business fundraising category for the annual Poppy Appeal.

The club has now held the shield for nine consecutive years, this time raising an impressive £1,003. The award recognises the outstanding effort made by staff and members, whose continued generosity has helped support the important work of the Poppy Appeal.

This year’s Remembrance observance in Calne also featured the Lyneham Military Wives Choir, local veterans, members of the public, and military personnel from 5 Battalion REME, who joined together to honour those who have served and sacrificed.
