A BEAUTIFUL wood carving sculpture of an owl family,  has been stolen from its display stand outside the Methodist Church on Silver Street.

The stunning 3ft piece, carved and donated by Graham Derham Woodworking was only installed outside the Methodist Church on the 6th October, but had already earned a place in the hearts of the residents who had driven and walked past and spotted the family of owls.

However, sometime between 4pm and 6.30pm on Wednesday, 6th November, the statue, worth an estimated £500, was ripped off its plinth in the small communal garden area, next to the church.

In doing so, the thieves also trampled flowers and Remembrance crosses.

Calne Police have said Calne town CCTV enquiries have been completed, but they would like to hear from any residents who have CCTV or dash camera footage which may help them with their enquiries.
