A Calne man has appeared befoer Swindon Magistrates today charged with failing to provide a specimen for analysis.

Nicholas Murkin, 44, of Warren Crescent, Calne was stopped in Pound Close, Lyneham in the early hours of the 28th October last year.

Although a roadside test result showed Murkin was below the legal blood alcohol limit, a drug wipe indicated a positive result.

He was taken into custody where he then refused to give an evidential blood sample.

In court today, Mr Murkin pleaded guilty to the charge and was given a 24 month driving ban, he was also fined £675, ordered to pay £620 to the CPS in court costs and a further £270 surcharge.
