Residents in Calne are being invited to join a community Festive Walk later this month, organised by local mental health support group Men Walking and Talking.

The event will take place on Tuesday 23rd December and aims to bring as many people together as possible for a relaxed festive walk around the town. Organiser, Leigh Randell, says the walk is open to everyone, including mums, dads, grandparents, the LGBTQ+ community and anyone else who would like to join. Pets are welcome too, "Dogs, cats, rabbits, even fish if people want to bring them in a bowl!" added Leigh.

Anyone wishing to join in should meet from 6.30pm at the town’s Christmas tree, with the walk setting off at 7pm. The route will aim to take in as many of the town's Christmas light displays as possible within roughly an hour. For insurance purposes, all those planning to attend must register in advance using the link provided by the organisers: https://www.menwalkingandtalking.co.uk/event/calne-christmas-friends-and-family-walk/

Two festive fancy dress prizes will also be awarded on the night, one for a child and one for an adult. Organisers say a number of local councillors have already expressed interest in joining the event.

As part of the preparations, Men Walking and Talking and Calne News are creating a map of homes and streets with Christmas lights so walkers can follow the route and enjoy the displays. Residents who are decorating their homes this year are encouraged to get in touch so their address can be added to the map.

Anyone wishing to have their lights included can email their addresses to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
