Get ready for a blast from the past as Calne's annual carnival returns in 2025 with an "old-school, retro celebration" promising fun for the whole family.

The High Street will transform into a vibrant hub of activity starting at 1pm Saturday 28th June, boasting a fantastic array of food stalls, craft vendors, dazzling street performers, engaging family activities, and live music.

Keep an eye out for special appearances from George the Dragon, the Jolly Giant Jester, Plucky the over curious chicken and the Posh Pigs!

The highlight of the day, the annual float procession, will kick off at 4:30pm.

This year sees a new route, with participants marching from Porte Marsh Industrial Estate, along Oxford Road, Wood Street, The Strand, and culminating on New Road. While embracing a retro vibe, organisers have encouraged participants to unleash their creativity and embrace a "no theme" approach, guaranteeing a spectacular and imaginative parade.

To ensure a smooth and safe event, several road closures will be in place.

The High Street, from its junction with Wood Street, will be closed from 11am to 6pm for market stall setup. The A4, from the Curzon Street/Wood Street roundabout to the New Road/Station Road Roundabout, will be closed from 1pm to 6pm.

Church Street will also be closed from 11am to 7pm.

Public transport will be affected. All buses except the 42 service will be diverted away from The Strand until about 1pm, and the Chippenham/Devizes 33 Faresaver service will not serve Calne at all from 1pm to 6pm.

Residents relying on the 55 Stagecoach service are advised to utilise the bus stops at Infusions Tearoom and Oxford Road.

Convenient parking options are available all day at Lower Pippin Car Park and Calne Leisure Centre. The festivities are scheduled to conclude at 6pm.

A spokesperson for Calne Town Council expressed gratitude for the support of the event's sponsors, stating: "Our headline sponsor is Deceuninck, who will be our headline sponsor for town events in 2025 and 2026. We are delighted that The Hills Group have become an event sponsor too. Finally, we are pleased to announce that Chalkland Vets are our latest sponsor for this great event."

The spokesperson added, "We couldn't have a procession without the ever-supportive T.W Skuse & Son Transport. This family-run business hits the road every year to ensure that our community comes together to create a fantastic atmosphere!"

So mark your calendars and get ready to step back in time for a day of fun, laughter, and community spirit at Calne's 2025 carnival!
