A Calne family has been left “heartbroken” after their Christmas light display was stolen and vandalised overnight at their home on Abberd Way.
The family discovered the damage on Sunday morning, finding that wires to their outdoor decorations had been deliberately cut. Several key pieces were also taken, including a snowman, a mummy deer and a baby deer ornament.
They say the display has been a much-loved tradition for the past three to four years, with considerable time spent each winter securing the lights so neighbours and passers-by can enjoy them throughout the festive season.
“It’s utterly disgusting and heartbreaking,” the family told Calne News, explaining that someone had come onto their property during the night and intentionally damaged the setup before stealing parts of it.
The incident has been especially upsetting for their three children. Their oldest son, who looks forward to the display each year, has been left distressed. Their middle son, who has special needs, was particularly fond of the snowman decoration, which the family say brought him “so much happiness”.

The estimated value of the stolen and damaged pieces is around £300. The incident has been reported to Wiltshire Police, who the family hope will be able to investigate and identify those responsible.

Anyone with any information can contact Wiltshire Police on 101.
