Mummy Scrubs, a local cleaning company owned by Louise Mould, has undertaken a heartwarming community initiative, providing extensive cleaning services to a single mother of two children facing significant challenges.

The mother of the family, struggling with ongoing health issues and disabilities, had fallen behind on household maintenance, leaving the home in disrepair.

The mother's daughter, acting as primary caregiver to both her mother and younger sibling, has been forced to prioritise basic needs, leaving little time or resources for home upkeep, to the point of sleeping on a mattress on the floor.

Mummy Scrubs, understanding the pressures of balancing work, childcare, and household responsibilities,  responded to a plea for help from a sister and a friend of the family.

Over the past few days, Louise and her team, along with volunteers, have dedicated over 50 combined hours to cleaning and restoring the family's home.

This includes extensive interior cleaning by Mummy Scrubs, and significant garden clearance provided by Valerie Eddery of Vals Complete Gardening.

The effort has already made a tangible difference, improving the family’s living conditions significantly. The initiative has generated an outpouring of community support, with numerous offers of donations of bedding, mattresses, and other household necessities - Tesco donated cleaning products to help the team.

However, the family continues to face significant housing challenges, including extensive property damage such as missing plaster and flooring, and an overgrown rear garden.

While attempts to contact the housing association have been unsuccessful, Mummy Scrubs and its volunteers remain committed to providing further assistance, aiming to complete the clean-up project by Tuesday.

Louise Mould expressed the deep satisfaction of helping a family in need, emphasising the often-unseen struggles faced by many in the community. She stressed that the aim is to provide support and improve the family's quality of life, while protecting the family's anonymity to safeguard the children's privacy.

The ongoing effort underscores the power of community spirit and the importance of offering support to those facing adversity. Further volunteers and donations are still welcomed.
