A PROCLAMATION was read this morning on Proclamation Steps in Mill Street, Calne.
A crowd gathered to hear Town Crier, Mark Wylie read the VE Day 80 Proclamation from the steps at 11am.
There then followed a service at the War Memorial attended by the Town Mayor, Jon Fisher, RBL, RAFA members and Town Councillors.
At lunch time, Calne Town Council hosted a special fish and chip VE Celebration lunch for invited guests at the Town Hall.
This evening at 6.30pm the bells of St Mary's Church will be ringing in the National Celebration of Peace.
