TWO Planning applications which would potentially bring an additional housing to properties in Wood Street, Calne, have been submitted to Wiltshire Council.

Spice of Bengal owner, Mr Uddin, has submittted an application for a first and second floor extension over existing to create two one bedroom apartments and a new-building to create six two bedroom apartments at 13 Wood Street.

The application states that the proposed first and second floor extension over the existing restaurant will tie in the existing old building respecting the local mix of materials used.

The consultation deadline is 6th May 2025 with a decision date calculated for 26th May 2025.

Another application has been submitted Mr Haddrell for a partial second floor extension over first floor flat roof area and conversion of existing large Maisonette to create two one-bedroom apartments and one two bedroom, plus alterations to shop front at 3 Wood Street.

The application states that the proposed second floor extension will only be paritally visible as it will be set back. The existing Maisonette is too large for its purpose and does not serve well as a family home. The proposal to create two one-bedroom apartments and one two-bedroom apartment will provide much needed affordable housing in the area. The shop will be retained but will be slightly smaller.

The consultation deadline is 15th May 2025 with a calculated decision date of 6th June 2025.
