The High Street in Calne, perhaps not the most extensive High Street in the country, but we still have some superb independent traders offering unique gifts, products and ideas for Christmas.
First up is Maria's Pet Supplies and Flowers.
Maria opened the doors to her brand new shop in August 2019. Prior to that, she had worked next door at Shirley's for 19 years. Just like Shirley's, Maria supplies cut flowers, plants and pet supplies.
In store you will find some beautiful floral ideas for Christmas - festive planted baskets from only £4.50, fresh holly wreaths start at £8.50 alternatively there are some lovely artificial wreaths available. Maria is making fresh holly crosses to order and there is a beautiful selection of Cyclamen, Christmas Cactus and Amaryllis.
For your furry friends there's plenty to choose from, Christmas dog and cat toys, treats and stockings too or how about a Christmas jumper for the dog in your life? You will be spoilt for choice.
Christmas flowers are all on the shop's website. You can order online at mariasfloristcalne.com.
The Bear & Pear Drop
What's not to love about The Bear & Pear Drop? Specialists in old fashioned sweets to modern day treats.
Shop owner Karen Grant prides herself on creating a magical shop for any child or 'child at heart' to visit. Alongside the sweet creations and jars of temptation, you will find a range of competitively priced toys, cards, wrapping and books.
Karen creates stunning sweet bouquets and hampers, gift jars and bespoke sweet trees too.
New to the shop this year are 'Christmas Gift Boxes' , a varied range to suit every taste is available to purchase off the shelf, alternatively Karen is happy to create a bespoke box if you have a picky person to buy for.
When visiting The Bear & Pear don't forget to take a minute or ten to look at the beautiful Christmas window display featuring fairy tales and nursery rhymes - there is even a competition based around the display - see the window for details.
