Wiltshire Council have announced their winter maintenance team are 'more prepared than ever' to keep our roads running smoothly over the forthcoming winter.
The council has 24 gritting vehicles on standby and over 13,000 tonnes of salt in six storage sites across Wiltshire. With the benefit of information gained from their weather stations, they are confident that the gritters will be dispatched at the right times and right places to keep our roads safe.
Bridget Wayman, cabinet member for highways, said: "We have a dedicated team who work all hours necessary in very difficult conditions, and we are fully prepared for this coming winter.
"We can never predict how severe a winter will be, but the wealth of experience we have means we are in the best possible position should bad weather hit the county."
