Local pet foodbank Paws For Pets are hoping to make Christmas a special time for pets belonging to local families who are struggling to afford to feed them.
Paws For Pets was set up in November 2018 by Josette Church in a bid to stop families who were facing financial difficulties from having to surrender their pets. There are drop off points around the area where generous members of the public can pop in a can of food, flea treatments, toys etc, really anything that can help pet owners give their pets the care they deserve.
In the run up to Christmas, the organisation has launched 'Operation Santa Paws'. Donations are being collected to make up special Christmas bags for pets in the area. In addition to this, the charity are also hoping to be able to collect a small box or tin of sweets or biscuits for the owners, for whom Christmas can be a little less jolly.
Josette said: "Paws for Pets pet food bank based in Calne are doing a Santa Paws Christmas appeal in the hope of giving each pet a goodie bag of toys treats, also we are asking if anyone wishes to donate a box of biscuits or tin of chocs that would be great for them all at a time when they don't have much - it's such a small thing but to them it's massive and makes their day."
There are plenty of places to leave your donations for the Paws for Pets ( pet food bank) Maria's Pet Food store in the High Street, Calne and Calne Pet Supplies in Church Street. There are also drop off points in Lyneham at the vets and Co-Op. A full list of all drop off locations is on the Paws for Pets Facebook page (link below).
Calne residents have so far been generous with their donations but more help is always welcomed.

Deadline for Christmas donations is 10th December, but drop off points are open all year round for regular donations.
