VisitWiltshire has put together a selection of what’s on offer including Easter train rides, an epic canoe race and, of course, plenty of chocolate egg trails and hunts.

Hop aboard the Easter Egg-Spress train from 19-22 April on the Swindon & Cricklade Railway or pay a visit to the Crofton Beam Engines for their Easter Steaming from 20-22 April).

Alongside its regular Easter services Salisbury Cathedral will be running If Easter Could Speak from 6-17 April. Collect a free map at the Cathedral entrance any time, except during services, and follow the special route through the building to find displays and materials to help explore together what Easter is all about.

Head to the Kennet & Avon Canal towpath to watch the start of the annual Devizes to Westminster International Canoe Race that spans 125 miles from Devizes to Westminster. This event takes place over the Easter weekend, starting in Devizes on Good Friday.

Easter Events at Stonehenge (6-28 April) include the chance to discover the prehistoric skills of the builders of Stonehenge. Experts demonstrate the techniques our Neolithic ancestors used to craft tools and essential everyday items, as well as luxury objects like jewellery and grave goods. Try your hand at raising a fur-tonne limestone block, similar in size and shape to the bluestones used in the iconic stone circle. Workshops daily 10.30 - 4.30, Moving and Raising a Stone from 12-16 April at 11am and 2pm.

The Great Lydiard Park Easter Trail is taking place between 10am-2pm daily 20-22 April. Travel around the lakes, woodlands and lawns searching for clues hidden around the park to claim your Easter surprise.

Castle Combe Circuit will be celebrating Howard Strawford, the man who saved the racetrack, with their annual Howard’s Day Easter Race Meeting on 22 April.

Wiltshire Wildlife Trust is holding nature-themed treasure trails with chocolate prizes at Warminster Easter Fun at Smallbrook Meadows nature reserve, Warminster (10am-12noon on 10 April) and Swindon Easter Fun at King's Farm Wood, Wroughton (10am-12noon on 11 April). £5 per child.

Mompesson House in Salisbury is staging the Cadbury Easter Egg Hunt 2019 (19-22 April). Follow the clues left by the bunny around the garden to complete the trail and claim your delicious Cadbury chocolate treat.

There’s an Alice in Wonderland-themed Easter Extravaganza at the Larmer Tree, Tollard Royal on 22 April. Track the Queen of Hearts, The Mad Hatter, The Cheshire Cat and Alice through the garden. Decorate biscuits with the Queen of Hearts and follow the White Rabbit to the magic show* (12noon, 1pm & 2pm *requires booking).

Easter at the Museum at Salisbury Museum from 8-22 April follow the Easter Bunny Trail to claim your choice of smiley stickers.

The Best Western Angel Hotel in Chippenham is celebrating Easter Sunday on 21 April with a three-course lunch plus tea and coffee and an Easter egg for every child.
