The Calne Town Council's Civic Awards presentation took place last week at the town hall during the Annual Parish Meeting on Friday 17th March.

The annual event gives the council an opportunity to thank members of the local community for the work they do to support residents and the town. Town Mayor, Cllr Tony Trotman, thanked the residents and community groups that had gone above and beyond to support the town over the last twelve months .

The Civic Award was presented to Celia Stevens for her continued support to the town through her work with Sustainable Calne, Pocket Park, Clean - up Crew, and for setting up the Junior Park Run at the Recreation Ground .

The Town Mayor, Cllr Trotman also gave a special mention to the two other nominees for the Calne Civic Award ; Diane Gooch, for her work with the Reconnecting Group and as the Older Peoples Champion , and Mary Wakeham for her work support ing residents through the Heart of
the Community .

The Young Citizen Award was presented to Ollie Bate and Arron Gardiner . The two boys saved the life of a Calne resident who experienced a cardiac arrest in 2020. Their award was collected by Paul Mayo, President of the Calne Royal British Legion , who nominated the pair for their award in light of their bravery and quick actions that saved a life.

The Civic Award for Art was presented to Louis Stephenson in recognition of his talent in playing the piano and to support his ongoing learning and development.
