CALNE Spring Sing event is once again returning to venues across Calne town centre this weekend following an enforced break during the pandemic.
The first post-Covid Spring Sing event will take place in Calne on Saturday 25th March from 10.30am and will see local choirs performing at Calne Town Hall, Calne Library, Calne Free Church, St Mary's Church and Marden House.
The event is free and no tickets are required. Residents and visitors are encouraged to attend and enjoy the music. There will be a pop-up cafe in the Corn Exchange at Calne Town Hall which will remain open for the duration of the event for anyone wishing to purchase refreshments. Refreshments will also be available at St Mary's Church.
The day will conclude at 4.00pm in Calne's Pocket park for the finale - The Big Sing! All are welcome to join in singing a medley of Sir Elton John classics including 'Crocodile Rock' in order to celebrate his 76th birthday. The wearing of wacky glasses for this part of the day is
encouraged!
Calne Town Council Events Officer, Erin Weaver said, “It’s fantastic to be able to hold Spring Sing for the first time since the Covid pandemic. We have an excellent selection of choirs performing throughout the day and we hope to see lots of people out and about enjoying the
music .
"We also hope people will join us at The Pocket Park from 4pm, where ‘The Big Sing’ will take part, in which choirs and spectators are encouraged to join together in song .
A huge thank you to all of the choirs who are performing at the event."
Full details and timetable for the day can be found on the Calne town noticeboards and on the Calne Town Council and Calne Events Facebook pages.
