CALNE town centre is set to benefit from a a £10,000 funding boost thanks to the Wiltshire Towns Programme.

calne town centre cnCalne Town Council has successfully secured £10,000 of funding from Wiltshire Council as part of the programme which has been created to help town centres recover from the effects of Covid-19. The funding aims to help increase footfall and visitor numbers to a range of towns across the county.

Calne’s allocation of funding has been granted to support a range of improvements to the town over the next 12 months. The funding will be spent on improving the look of the town centre and will help to support marketing the town, and its events, to a wider community. The aim is to bring more visitors to the town which would help to support local businesses and provide a welcome boost to the local economy.

Through a renewed focus on securing grant funding, Calne Town Council has also secured funding to purchase facilities to support and improve the town’s events programme, and also to support the town’s tree planting activities.

Director of Council Services, Mr Steve Nash said, “It's important that we maintain our facilities and promote Calne using all available funding, this then provides a better level of service to our residents with out an increase to the Precept."

Calne Town Council is continually seeking sponsorship and partners for all its activities and would welcome an approach by businesses in the area.
