A group of Calne teenagers taking part in the NCS are hoping to raise much needed funds for the charity Barnardo's .
The National Citizen Service (NCS) is a voluntary personal and social development programme for 15–17 year olds.
The scheme coincides with school holidays - groups of teenagers take part in physical and team building activities.
Following this, participants plan and deliver a "social action" project in their local community, often to raise awareness of or fundraise for a particular cause. NCS encourages the teens to take steps out of their comfort zone and to say ‘Yes, I can do this!'.
This year, Calne teenagers taking part in the National Citizen Service Trust Summer 2022 have been challenged to raise funds for a charity, they have chosen to fundraise for Barnardo's - a charity close to their hearts.
Barnardo’s is the UK’s largest children’s charity, helping over 300,000 of the UK’s most vulnerable children, young people and families each year.
The team will be in Chippenham High Street on Wednesday 10th August running a cake and bake sale and then in Monkton Park on Thursday 11th August where they have organised fun and games and will be selling BBQ food.
They have also set up a GoFundMe page which states: 'Do you want to join us in making a difference? We are raising money in aid of Barnardo's and every donation will help. Thank you in advance for your contribution to this cause.' If you would like to help them you can visit the page HERE.
