ONLY one week to go until homes in Calne will once again be performing a Covid friendly switch-on as part of the 'Light Up Calne For Christmas' campaign.
'Light Up Calne For Christmas' is the brainchild of resident Claire Willoughby.
Last year, when the lantern parade and Christmas festival was cancelled, Claire came up with the idea to get as many homes in Calne to decorate their homes and gardens with Christmas lights and decorations to try and make Christmas as special as possible for the younger residents who had missed out on so much due to the pandemic.
Over 200 homes joined in the fun and the town sparkled brighter than ever before.
2021 has been much improved on last year, but children have still had to miss out on many traditional events and entertainment with some schools being forced to record their nativity and carol concerts and cancel other planned festive activities.
With this in mind, Claire asked Calne News to repeat the campaign for 2021. Although the Calne lantern parade and Christmas festival is able to go ahead again this year, Claire thought it would make it extra special if the people who helped us to succeed last year, would agree to do it again and maybe convince a few new displays.
COMPETITION - As a thank you for taking part, all addresses will be added to a random generator and one home will win a super sweet hamper - winner will be announced after the switch on time which will be Friday 26th November 6pm.
