Calne Town council are looking for volunteers to set up a Community Speed Watch group for the Sand Pit Road area.

sandpit speed checkSpeeding has been an ongoing concern along Sand Pit Road which has a limit of 30mph.

Last year a Metro Count showed an 85th percentile speed recorded at 40mph. The average speed was recorded at 34.6mph.

Now the council are calling for volunteers to help set up a Community Speed Watch group which will help local people to address speeding in their communities. All information recorded is passed to the police.

Volunteer roles required to set up the group:

Scheme Leader
Scheme Administrator
Scheme Members

Support and full training will be provided to volunteers by Wiltshire Police’s Traffic Management Policing Officers. It is hoped that the scheme will become operational after the current lockdown measures are lifted.
