OWNERS of cats and dogs who are struggling to afford treatments for their pets, will now be able to make sure their pet is wormed and treated for fleas, thanks to a donation from the Calne Lions Club.
The pandemic has left many pet owners struggling financially and some families can't afford pet food or basic treatments.
Paws For Pets was set up in November 2018 by Josette Church in a bid to stop families who were facing financial difficulties from having to surrender their pets. There are drop off points around the area where generous members of the public can pop in a can of food, flea treatments, toys etc, really anything that can help pet owners give their pets the care they deserve.
Calne Lions have purchased flea and worming treatments at a cost of £170 which they are donating to Paws for Pets to get the treatments where they are needed the most.
Thanks to the generosity of Maria Dunt who owns Maria's Flowers and Pet Supplies in the High Street, that money stretched even further when she provided the treatments at cost price.
If you would like to donate to Paws For Pets, there are plenty of places to leave your donations : Maria's Pet Food store in the High Street, Calne Pet Supplies in Church Street. There are also drop off points in Lyneham at the vets and Co-Op. A full list of all drop off locations is on the Paws for Pets Facebook page HERE
