Calne police are investigating a robbery and theft which happened in Calne on Friday evening 8th February.

5AD1D150 9293 4EEF B161 6D1766BA0334At around 8.50pm a man was withdrawing money from the cashpoint outside Sainsbury’s, when he was approached by an unknown man, who pulled him over from behind and stole the £20 note he had withdrawn.

The victim was not seriously hurt, so stood up and followed the suspect into the nearby Co-op to confront him and try to get his money back.

The suspect then took a bottle of alcohol from a shelf inside the Co-op and left the store without paying.

The victim then returned home and phoned police.

Officers attended the scene and carried out an area search, as well as approaching the staff in the Co-op to get further details of the suspect.

The suspect is described as a white man, wearing a light brown hoody with the hood pulled up.

Extra patrols are being done in The Pippin, and all other locations in Calne where cash machines are present.
