THREE men who travelled from Bath to Calne to use the town’s skate park over the weekend have been issued with fixed penalty notices.
Police Community Support Officers responded to reports about a group of young people in the Station Road park yesterday afternoon (17/01).
Three men, aged 18,19 and 21, were stopped and admitted they had travelled by car from Bath to use the Calne Bowl due to the skateparks in Bath being closed during lockdown. They claimed to be aware of the current lockdown restrictions and knew that they shouldn't be travelling long distances without an essential reason.
All three of the young men were issued with £200 fines.
PCSO Mark Cook said: “It is really disappointing that these people travelled such a distance to use the facilities in Calne at this time, and in doing so potentially putting us and other members of the public at risk."
“I hope this shows that we will take positive action when we receive reports of this nature.”
