A case of 'Ash Dieback' will mean that part of New Road in Calne will be closed for removal works from 22nd October.
Ash Dieback is a serious disease of ash trees caused by the fungus Hymenoscyphus fraxineus. The disease causes leaf loss and crown dieback in affected trees and can lead to the death of the tree.
Wiltshire Council will be closing New Road from its junction with Old Derry Hill Road to its junction with Studley Lane in the interests of public safety to enable Wiltshire Council to carry out urgent Ash Dieback removal works.
An alternative route will be in place via A342, A3102, A4 and vice versa. The closure and diversion route will be clearly indicated by traffic signs. Access will be maintained for residents andbusinesses where possible, although delays are likely due to the nature of the works.
These works will commence on 22 October 2020 and are anticipated to be required for 11 days.
For further information regarding these works please contact Matt Perrott on 07966 310 655 at Wiltshire Council
