Last week, Wiltshire Council announced that they had sold off land east of the Oxford Road roundabout to Lidl UK.
In a consultation leaflet which will be delivered to all residents in the next few days, Lidl have outlined their plans for the site before submitting an application.
Lidl plan to open a 1400sqft store with associated parking, and an employment park consisting of 10 employment units each with parking.
The plans include an in-store bakery and solar panels on the roof to supply the store's energy, car parking for 131 vehicles and two electric vehicle charging points.
The store will create up to 40 new full and part time jobs for local people. Lidl also outline their plans for an employment park which will include 10 employment units of varying sizes. These units will create a further 70 to 150 jobs for the town.
Cllr Robert Merrick Mayor of Calne said: "It is great to see this project come to life, it will bring more employment to Calne."
